Terms of Service

Destilus Inc. operates a technology marketplace that connects homeowners with independent licensed plumbing professionals. Destilus is a technology platform — we are not a licensed contractor, plumbing company, insurer, or employer of any plumbers listed on the platform.

All work is performed by independent contractors who are solely responsible for the quality, safety, and legality of their services.

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter contracts in your jurisdiction to use Destilus. By registering, you represent that you meet these requirements.

Plumbers must maintain valid state licensing and insurance throughout their time on the platform. Destilus reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account found to be operating without valid credentials.

For homeowners: You agree to provide accurate descriptions and photos of your plumbing issue, be present or available at the service address during the job, and release payment only after reviewing the completed work.

For plumbers: You agree to maintain a valid license and insurance, arrive within the agreed time window, upload before and after photos as required, and comply with all applicable safety codes.

For all users: You agree not to circumvent the platform by arranging off-platform payments, posting fake reviews, creating multiple accounts, or engaging in any fraudulent activity.

All payments are processed by Stripe. When a homeowner books a job, funds are held in escrow until the homeowner approves the completed work or a dispute is resolved.

Platform fees are 15% of the job total for standard jobs and 25% for emergency dispatches. These fees are non-refundable once a job is accepted by a plumber.

Homeowners may request a refund if a plumber cancels, fails to arrive, or the work is demonstrably incomplete based on media evidence. Refunds are processed within 5–10 business days.

The AI diagnosis feature is powered by Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude. It provides general guidance only and is not a substitute for professional inspection. Destilus makes no warranty that AI-generated diagnoses are accurate, complete, or appropriate for your specific situation.

In any plumbing emergency involving flooding, gas odors, sewage backup, or risk of structural damage — call 911 immediately and do not rely on AI triage.

• Posting false or misleading information
• Uploading fabricated before/after photos
• Contacting other users outside the platform to avoid fees
• Harassing, threatening, or discriminating against any user
• Attempting to access another user’s account or data
• Using automated tools to scrape or abuse the platform
• Listing services you are not legally licensed to perform

Violations may result in immediate account suspension, forfeiture of pending payments, and reporting to relevant licensing authorities.

If a homeowner and plumber disagree about job completion, either party may open a dispute through the platform within 72 hours of job completion. Destilus will review all submitted media evidence and make a binding decision within 48 hours.

Destilus’s dispute decisions are final for amounts under $500. For larger disputes, both parties may pursue mediation or arbitration.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Destilus is not liable for any property damage, personal injury, or consequential damages arising from work performed by plumbers on the platform. Our liability is limited to the fees paid through the platform for the specific job in dispute.

You may close your account at any time. Destilus may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the platform ceases immediately, but your obligations regarding outstanding payments and disputes remain.

We will notify you by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of Destilus after changes constitutes acceptance.
